Why are they here?
In the spring, ants develop wings (yes you read right), fly to new locations and invade homes to forage for food or to establish a new nest.
Why our homes?
They like the same kinds of food that we do. They have big communities to feed. They need water.
What strategies keep them at bay?
We all keep our kitchens pretty clean, yet now is the time to be super-uber-vigilant about sealing all food sources, disinfecting countertops, and leaving the sink empty and dry.
Stop them from even getting inside. Cracks and crevices should be sealed to eliminate passages into the home. If you do not seal entry points, ants will probably find their way into your house at some later time.
That usually is not enough to get rid of them. We recommend calling in reinforcements.
We have been experiencing huge success controlling ants. What is our 100% non-toxic ant kryptonite? A combination of natural oil formulations that kill and repel them. Natural baits that they take back to their nests (bad news for them).
Our control strategy includes, locating their nests (where possible), finding and eliminating entry points and pheromone trails.
Then we S.T.S. – SEAL, TREAT, AND SPRAY. That keeps them OUT.
